Watercolor Classes

I have completed my move to the Mobile, Alabama area and have had the pleasure of teaching 2 workshops in watercolor at the Eastern Shore Arts Center, in Fairhope, Al. I am excited and very grateful to be associated with such wonderful folks at such a top-notch arts center. Please visit their website or feel free to get on my mailing list if you are interested in keeping abreast of my future workshop offerings or upcoming shows.

I have taught both beginner and intermediate classes for over 5 years at various locations, including: Michaels, Hobby Lobby and just prior to our move to the gulf coast, as a member artist of the Artists Guild Gallery of Greenville, in Greenville, SC. I have also worked one-on-one with several individuals in a more personalized setting.

See below for information on what I offer. If you have any questions, or think you would be interested in a workshop in the Mobile, Alabama, Eastern Mississippi coast or Greenville/Upstate region of South Carolina, I would be more than happy to travel & work with your organization or group.

What I offer:

I offer classes in watercolor for beginner through intermediate level. Private lessons are also available for no extra charge and are customized to your time frame and needs.

I will conduct 1, 2 or 3 day workshops at your venue or location. Please contact me via email if you would like to discuss a workshop.

A little about my classes:

  • Classes are small, allowing for individual attention
  • Each 6 week class session revolves around a project or theme to be decided several weeks ahead of the first day.  For example: Winter 2012 Intermediate Level theme was "Simplifying the Landscape". Past sessions have seen us work on anything from a still life set-up to an architectural subject for our theme.
  • Class participants are encouraged to bring their own photos, but I always have original photos that I take myself that correspond to the project and hand them out readily.
  • Information in class is two-fold: I always work on the basics of tonal values, color theory, composition, and solid drawing skills in addition to teaching methods and technique involved in painting different types of subject matter.
  • Library of reference material brought to each class, which you may borrow.
  • Arwork critique during most classes before you leave class so you know what is working well, and what areas you need to work on at home.
  • I am available by email or phone to every student, outside of class time to work through problems, offer advice or critique...or encouragement!!
  • Will set-up and coordinate museum visits and tours, outside of class times, which I give my students first choice on, if there is limited access.
  • Discounts for returning students. Class fee may be broken into 2 payments.
